Autistic

weighted-vestsWeights have traditionally been used for rehabilitation and strengthening. When working with children who have sensory challenges, weight becomes a powerful tool for providing heavy-work input to the muscles and joints.

A weighted vest (for example) provides additional sensory input which may help a child feel more calm and organized and improve his awareness of body in space.

Weighted blankets and weighted vests require a Doctor or Occupational Therapist to prescribe them. Their knowledge assures the appropriate product and weight is assigned as well as instructions on how and when to use the products to meet the child’s needs.

Busy Hands offers a variety of  weighted products, fidget toys, and therapy aids.
